Every one of us knows very well that a happy lifestyle starts with good health and with perfect body weight. Based on this, most of the overweight individuals are putting their best possible efforts to achieve toned body and stay fit for a long time.
However, all efforts related to pushups, treadmill running, Dumble exercises, squats, lunges or any other fitness activity would go in vain until and unless fitness freaks bring some changes in their regular diet schedule.
Here comes the role of intermittent fasting that has proved to be beneficial to reduce additional body fat and thereby, providing a toned yet a healthy figure.
Overview on Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent fasting does not imply a particular diet chart; instead, it indicates a suitable pattern of consuming regular foods. This type fasting schedules your meals with the objective to give you the best possible benefits from it. In another way, intermittent fasting refers to an eating pattern, which cycles between the eating and fasting periods.
Methods Involved in Intermittent Fasting
Until now, dieticians have recommended to follow intermittent fasting based on three different methods, which include-
This method requires skipping of your breakfast and putting restrictions on your daily period of eating to up to 8 hours i.e. for instance, from 2pm to 10pm. Later on, you may choose to keep fast for about 16 hours between it.
Here, you have to fast for a whole day, i.e. 24 hours in 1 or 2 days in a week. For instance, you should not have your dinner from one day to up to the dinner on the next day.
This method requires individuals consuming only 500 to 600 calories for any two non-consecutive days in one week, while normal diet on the remaining 5 days.
How Intermittent Fasting is Helpful in Weight Loss?
To understand the role of intermittent fasting in any human body, particularly in case of weight loss or fat burn, you have to understand the difference between the fasted state and fed state of your body.
Fed state refers to the state, which your body digests and absorbs the food. This state usually starts when you intake and remains for about 3 to 5 hours, as your body performs both digestion and absorption of the consumed food. When you remain in fed state, you would likely face difficulty in burning fat. Reason for this is that in this state, insulin levels in your blood remain very high.
After 5 hours, your body will reach at the post-absorptive state, i.e. the state when your body stops processing of the consumed meal. This state further lasts for about 12 hours after the last meal you consume. In this way, your body will reach the fasted state.
Now, because of low insulin levels, it becomes very much easy for your body to burn extra fat and hence, you experience a drastic weight loss. In a simple way, your body is able to burn fat when it remains in the fasted state only and it is inaccessible in the fed state.
In this way, most of the people, who started with intermittent fasting experienced significant weight loss or fat loss, even without changing (or very less variations) in their daily diet or in their daily physical exercises.
Therefore, we should say that intermittent fasting has not only helped in obesity problems to give perfect body weight, but also give a healthy and a happy life forever.
